Transportation to Bay Harbor, Mich.

A shuttle will be available to and from the Inn at Bay Harbor and the Traverse City Airport for Cucurbitaceae 2014 participants. The final shuttle schedule will be based on participants actual flight arrival and departure information, with the goal of having no participant waiting more than one hour to catch the shuttle. The shuttle will be available on Sunday, October 12; Thursday, October 16 and Friday, October 17. 

Traverse City (TVC) is home to the largest local airport and is approximately 65 miles (104.6 km) from Bay Harbor. The Traverse City Airport is a full-service commercial airport offering major airline service to 300 domestic and international destinations. You can connect through Detroit, Michigan; Chicago, Illinois; and Minneapolis, Minnesota. Flight services are provided by American Airlines, Delta Airlines and United Airlines. An estimated taxi will run approximately $175-180 USD each way. Shuttle service will be provided through the conference for a fee of $20 each way. Tickets can be purchased during the conference registration process. There are also rental car companies located directly onsite at the airport, if you prefer to rent a car.

Pellston Regional Airport  (PLN) is another option for traveling to Bay Harbor. However, it is a much smaller airport located 25 miles from Bay Harbor and is served by Delta Airlines. Delta provides daily commercial flights with a connection to Detroit, Michigan.

Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy endless biking and hiking trails, boating or fishing on scenic inland lakes, rivers or Lake Michigan. Spend time combing local beaches for northern Michigan's famous Petoskey stones, or following a trail through a forest looking for morel mushrooms. Visitors can also explore the local attractions including Odawa Casino, or take a day trip to Mackinac Island or Traverse City.
